You’ve spent years studying and practicing but that sense of inner peace still seems to come and go with your mood or circumstances.

Every now and then you touch into a sense that this moment is more than enough, but you don’t know how to access it in a reliable way.
You've been on this path for a while. You practice. You study. You've sat with teachers, gone on retreat, and dedicated serious time to your spiritual growth.
But still, experiencing joy- quiet, consistent contentment -feels conditional, like it depends on things being a certain way. When practice is steady and life is going well, it's there. When life gets hard and old patterns are playing out, it seems to disappear entirely.
And when that happens, the natural conclusion is that you need to practice more. Study more. Work on your unhealed wounds.
But the Recognition Sūtras point in a different direction.
According to the Pratyabhijñā tradition, joy isn't the result of practice, study or even healing your deepest inner wounds. It is the very nature of Consciousness itself — already present, independent of circumstances.
Which means the issue isn't that you haven't done enough.
It's that joy has been treated as something to cultivate and maintain, rather than something already here to be recognized.
